Nostril Waxing, Anyone?
Salon Services has recently heard a lot about the practice of NOSE HAIR WAXING, and as with any new(ish) beauty treatment, we wanted to learn more about it, and thought you might like to as well.
When thinking about this treatment, several questions spring to mind:
#1 – Ouch! How bad does that hurt?
#2 – Won’t I get sick without nose hair to filter out bacteria and other contagions?
#3 – How exactly is this done?
#4 – How much are clients willing to pay for this treatment? ....
For starters, we’re told by several waxing specialists that the pain is very minimal, very much like pulling a bandage off very quickly. When you think about it, plucking a single nose hair is painful because it is tedious and singular. When it all comes off at once, the pain is not much different than that single hair.
As far as possibly leaving yourself open to bacteria that your nose hair would generally strain out, have no fear, the hair that is removed is only that which is visible in the front of the nostril. Thick hairs in the back of the nose, which filter out dust, particles, and bacteria, as well as helping to regulate the humidity of the nose and throat, are left untouched.
We won’t go into the specific details and instructions, but plenty of informational clips are available on YouTube. Below is a good instructional video, demonstrated with Ciripil Blue Wax.
Nose waxing treatments are fairly inexpensive services, running from around $15 to $20. Learning how to perform this treatment will open up an additional service for you to offer your clients.
For more waxing tips, Salon Services is hosting a Waxing Theory, Practice & Brazilian Demonstration class on September 28. Limited space is available, call 800-251-4247, x226 or education@salonservicesnw.com to register.
