Davines WWHT 2012 Recap
Posted 01-20-2012 4:06 pm

 0davineswwht2012

Davines kicked off its annual World Wide Hair Tour of 2012 from January 8-11th in the spectacular setting of Miami, FL. The welcoming spirit of the city and fusion of different lifestyles provided inspiration for the WWHT theme, “Everyday above the earth is a good day.”

The most advanced trends in international hair design were showcased featuring the biggest names from Davines’ world on stage: Angelo Seminara, Johnny Othona and Pedro Inchenko. Other events of the weekend included the 8th Annual World Style Contest, the Ecosalon Contest and a 1980’s “Cinema Stars” themed party.

Davines Brand Manager, Kristal Baker, and 12 lucky Salon Services’ Sales Consultants made the cross- country journey to Miami, as did 65 of our top clients- our largest showing to date!

It was a weekend filled with inspiration, creativity and multi-cultural connections.  A few members of our sales team reflect upon their WWHT experiences below:

What a Davines shift occurred as we all witnessed the embrace of the culture and the collaboration of intentions of craftsmanship via a company who is partnered with our company who wishes to create sustainability beauty within our industry, our salons, our stylists, our distributorship, our consultants, our hearts and our legacy of what we all can do, once we share the inspiration!

Sydney Berry – SSS Owner & President, Renton, WA

It isn't a particular moment that created the magic; it was a collective happening that truly allowed me to understand, “what is Davines”. In reflecting on my World Wide Hair Tour experience, a huge smile is brought to my face. It is unlike anything I have ever been a part of. From the moment I sat down for our first day, there was a feeling of warmth and comfort from all the cultures around me. I watched a Davines video about passion, earth, commitment, love, and beauty. I felt a sense of well-being and safety. Davines isn't just a line of products meant to perform, it is a overall sense of beauty that embodies the mind, body and spirit.

Christy White, Spokane, WA

I've never worked with a group of people that I respect more and enjoy more and feel like a family with more than each of you at Salon Services! Incredible trip. Incredible passion. Incredible distinction that Davines has in the market. Simply loved it.

Kenny Pecka, Cour d’ Alene, ID

The experience has definitely sparked more passion, appreciation and understanding for Davines and the WWHT, but also for my clients who attended, and my relationship with my fellow teammates.

Julie Howes, Portland, OR

Salon Services Welcomes Back Jessee Skittrall
Posted 01-16-2012 5:20 pm

0JesseeSkittrallSalon Services is thrilled to welcome back industry veteran and international educator, Jessee Skittrall. Currently a stylist, colorist and Salon Owner, Jessee previously worked with Salon Services as the original Kadus Brand Manager and Brocato Regional Educator. He went on to obtain certifications from the American Board of Certified Haircolorists, the International Board of Certified Haircolorists and to work with top name artists including Sam Brocato, Mary Brunetti, Ruth Roche, Vivienne Mackinder, Melissa Stone and Michael O’Rourke.

This renewed partnership between Salon Services and Jessee stems from his decision to transition his salon into an exclusive Brocato retail space. When asked what inspired him to make the transition, he answered, “Two words… Quality Hair!” He believes the unique base of the color leaves the hair and scalp in incredible shape and that the entire line is designed to meet the needs of today’s modern colorist.

Excited to work with Salon Services again, Jesse explains  “Salon Services is really about mastering being the best version of yourself. I am grateful to be back with Salon Services because they are continually raising the bar.”

Animal Testing…STILL?

Animal Testing…STILL?

0animaltesting

We were shocked when we came across PETA’s (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) website recently and found a list of companies that actively test their products on animals.

…yes you read that right.

Apparently animal testing is not a thing of the past. In fact, many large corporations like Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson and Unilever (among thousands of others) are currently at fault.

What’s even more concerning? You could be supporting animal testing without even knowing it. From your purchases at the drug store to what you recommend to your clients, the multitude of products tested on animals is alarming.

Popular salon brands like: LOREAL (which owns brands  KERASTASE, REDKEN, MATRIX, etc), VIDAL SASSOON, and SEBASTIAN are listed on PETA’s site as major offenders.

Animal testing is cruel, inhumane and unnecessary, especially in today’s day and age. I, personally could not be more thankful to work for a distributor that thoroughly researches and partners with companies that promote cruelty-free and sustainable products.

Thank you to Loma, Pearatin, Youngblood, Kevin Murphy, Davines…. the list goes on.

YOU can keep pressure on those responsible for animal testing by pledging to be Cruelty Free. For more information, visit: www.peta.org
