• Pull out your camera and shoot the look.
• Contest runs May 1 through June 30, 2012.
• E-mail your photos to balayage@beautopiallc.com and they’ll be uploaded to the Balayage Contest album on our Brocato Facebook page.
• Five colorists with the most “Likes” win!
Brocato will notify winners on August 1st via e-mail with the good news — a Brocato Color Project Kit worth over $900 will be coming their way!

2012 SKINPOSIUM Recap

Monday April 16th, 2012 marked the first SKINPOSIUM Event hosted by Salon Services. With guest speakers, break-out sessions, networking events and brand representatives from the top skin care lines in the country, participants enjoyed a full day of skin education!
Annet King, Director of Global Education for the International Dermal Institute & Dermalogica kicked off the morning with her “Fast Forward Thinking” seminar. The “new” economy and unique behaviors, needs and desires of today’s consumer were discussed as well as fresh ideas to become “consumer centric.”
Key Take-Aways:
· No longer plagued by layoffs and budgeted spending, the beauty industry is experiencing an upsurge in business with global skincare estimated to reach 91 billion dollars by 2014.
· Ecommerce is up 25% with spa visits up by 4.3%
· Old Consumers were concerned with lowest price, waiting for solutions and trustful of marketing messages. NEW Consumers are interested in the total value, creating their own solutions and seeking meaningful experiences.
· We’ve shifted from an “attention” based economy to an “attraction” based economy. The approach is now to engage vs. interrupt, interact vs. react, connect with vs. market to.
· Our world is touch deprived and disconnected. Consumers frequent salons to pay for non-sexual intimacy we used to get from mothers, sisters and girlfriends.
Keynote Speaker, Dr. Craig Jonov, DMD, MD and owner of the Facial Surgery Center of Seattle discussed Leading Cosmetic Options. Jonov explored modern and traditional cosmetic and surgical options, wowing the audience with client before and after pictures. Specializing in facial rejuvenation, Jonov defined surgical outcomes for optimal results and how aesthetics can serve to compliment patient care.
Following lunch, the 150 participants were broken into four rotational groups for the afternoon breakout sessions featuring:
Promotional Strategies Made Easy with Rae Lynne Cook, National Account Manager for Dermalogica
Under the Needle and Beyond with Dr. Craig Jonov, DMD, MD
Moving Beyond Boring in the Treatment Room with Anne Pennington, Dermalogica Brand Specialist
Take the “OUCH” out of Waxing with Jessica Campbell, Esthetician and Waxing Specialist
In addition to the breakout sessions, participants were also given time to peruse various vendor booths including ANSR, Cirepil and Dermalogica. Salon Services’ team of Skin Consultants were on hand to answer questions and showcase product demonstrations.
A big thank you to Annet King, Dr. Craig Jonov, Anne Pennington, Jessica Campell, the Grand Hyatt of Seattle, Dermalogica, ANSR, Cirepil, and the Salon Services Skin Team for making our first SKINPOSIUM an event to remember!
